The work

The first attempt at putting two worlds in the same room: a decade of editorial work, and the digital humanities tooling I had just walked into during the master’s. The choice of subject was unserious on purpose — a book recommender that matched readers to fiction through their zodiac sign. The choice of method was the entire point.

What it was for

To play. To stop being intimidated by the code. To find out from the inside how digital tools are built, so I could understand what programming — and later, AI — would let editorial work do that hadn’t been possible before. The aim was never to become an engineer. It was to be a humanist who could read what the tools were saying back, and decide what was worth doing with them.

Try it

A reduced version of this project runs on the site. Pick a sign, get a recommendation. The logic is a small version of the original — characters and arcs matched against what each sign tends to recognize.
